Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (this “AUP”) sets out the rules that apply to your access to and use of skrib.com, any subdomain of skrib.com, and the related online services (collectively, the “Services”). It is incorporated by reference into the Skrib Terms of Service and the Skrib Software Services Agreement. Capitalised terms used and not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms or the SSA.

1. General principles

You may use the Services only for lawful purposes and in compliance with the Terms of Service or SSA, the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy, this AUP, and applicable law. You are responsible for your use of the Services, for all User Content you submit, and for the use of the Services by anyone acting under your account.

2. Prohibited content

You must not, and must not encourage, assist, or permit any other person to use the Services to upload, store, create, transmit, share, or otherwise make available any content that:

is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, harassing, threatening, hateful, or that exploits or harms minors;

constitutes child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooms minors, or sexualises minors in any form;

constitutes non-consensual intimate imagery, sexually explicit content depicting an identifiable real person without verifiable consent, or so-called “revenge” imagery;

is a deepfake or other synthetic media of an identifiable real person, where the content is intended to deceive, defraud, harass, defame, or harm that person, or where it concerns a public figure in a manner that materially misrepresents their words, beliefs, or conduct;

infringes, misappropriates, or violates any intellectual-property right, privacy right, publicity right, trade secret, or confidentiality obligation;

contains malware, viruses, worms, Trojan horses, ransomware, exploit code, or other malicious software, or is designed to facilitate phishing, credential theft, social engineering, fraud, or unauthorised access;

constitutes spam, unsolicited bulk communications, or commercial communications sent in violation of CAN-SPAM, ePrivacy, or analogous laws;

is intended to incite or facilitate violence, terrorism, mass harm, or self-harm;

violates sanctions, export-control, or other compliance obligations applicable to Skrib or its users; or

you do not have all rights, permissions, and lawful grounds necessary to submit, process, or share through the Services.

3. Prohibited conduct

You must not, and must not encourage, assist, or permit any other person to:

interfere with, disrupt, damage, overburden, or compromise the Services or any network, system, or account connected to the Services;

probe, scan, test, or circumvent the security, authentication, or integrity of the Services or any related systems, except as expressly permitted under Section 6 (Security research) below;

engage in unauthorised scraping, crawling, harvesting, extraction, mirroring, indexing, or automated access, except as expressly permitted by Skrib in writing;

use bots, scripts, or automated means to exceed authorised use, interfere with normal operation, or bypass technical or contractual restrictions (including rate limits, usage allowances, content filters, and safety mitigations);

reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, translate, or otherwise attempt to derive source code, underlying models, weights, training data, algorithms, or trade secrets from the Services, except to the limited extent that such restriction is prohibited by non-waivable applicable law;

use the Services to develop, train, benchmark, fine-tune, distil, or improve any artificial-intelligence model that competes with Skrib or with any AI model provider used by Skrib;

submit highly sensitive, regulated, or restricted information (including special-category personal data, payment-card data, government-issued identifiers, or protected health information) to the Services or to AI Features in violation of applicable law or without appropriate authorisation and risk assessment;

impersonate any person or entity, falsely suggest affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship, or misrepresent the source or origin of content;

harvest or collect personal data of other users without lawful basis or in violation of the Privacy Policy; or

use the Services in any manner that could reasonably be expected to expose Skrib, its users, or its service providers to harm, liability, or legal risk.

4. AI-specific prohibitions

In addition to the general prohibitions above, you must not use the AI Features of the Services to:

generate, distribute, or seek information designed to provide operational uplift to weapons of mass destruction or to large-scale cyber attacks on critical infrastructure;

generate or facilitate the unauthorised practice of regulated professions (legal, medical, mental-health crisis intervention, financial, tax) where the AI output is presented as a substitute for licensed professional advice;

perform biometric categorisation, emotion-recognition inference, or any inference about an individual’s race, ethnicity, political opinions, trade-union membership, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, or health, in each case where prohibited or restricted under Article 5 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act or analogous applicable law;

conduct social-scoring of individuals or groups in a manner prohibited by Article 5 of the EU AI Act;

generate AI-generated or AI-modified image, audio, or video content depicting an identifiable real person in a manner intended to deceive a reasonable viewer, without clear disclosure that the content is AI-generated; or

generate or distribute disinformation, manipulated media, or content designed to influence elections, public-health communications, or other matters of public interest through false attribution to identifiable persons or institutions.

You acknowledge that AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or unsuitable for your intended use, that you are solely responsible for reviewing outputs before relying on, publishing, sharing, or using them, and that you will not rely on AI Features as a substitute for professional advice.

5. Account integrity

You must not, and must not allow others to:

share account credentials with any other person, except as expressly permitted by the Services or by a separate written agreement with Skrib;

create or maintain accounts using false, misleading, or stolen identity information;

operate multiple accounts to evade rate limits, plan limits, free-trial restrictions, or other technical or contractual controls; or

transfer or sell access to an account except as expressly permitted by Skrib in writing.

6. Security research

Skrib welcomes good-faith security research conducted in accordance with the Vulnerability Disclosure Policy at https://skrib.com/security/vdp. Subject to that Policy, Skrib will not pursue legal action under the Terms or this AUP against a researcher who, in good faith and consistently with the Policy: identifies a security vulnerability, makes a reasonable effort to avoid privacy violations and disruption to others, reports the vulnerability promptly to Skrib through the channel identified in the Policy, and refrains from public disclosure until Skrib has had a reasonable opportunity to remediate.

This Section does not authorise testing on third-party systems or on systems Skrib does not control, and does not waive any rights of third parties.

7. Reporting violations

If you become aware of a violation of this AUP, please report it to contact@skrib.com or through the notice-and-action form at https://skrib.com/legal/notice-and-action. Reports concerning intellectual-property infringement should be submitted under the DMCA / IP Complaints Policy at https://skrib.com/legal/dmca. Reports concerning illegal content from users in the European Union may also be submitted under Article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act through the same notice-and-action page.

8. Enforcement

Skrib may, at any time, investigate suspected violations of this AUP and take any action it considers appropriate, including:

removing, restricting, or disabling access to content;

limiting, suspending, or terminating an account or access to particular features;

preserving records relevant to the violation;

notifying affected users or rights holders;

reporting matters to service providers, payment institutions, or law-enforcement or regulatory authorities; and

pursuing other remedies available under applicable law or the Terms.

Where Skrib takes a moderation action in response to illegal content notified by an EU user under the DSA, Skrib will provide a statement of reasons under Article 17 of the DSA. Affected users may submit complaints concerning moderation decisions through Skrib’s internal complaint-handling system at https://skrib.com/legal/notice-and-action under Article 20 of the DSA.

9. Survival

This AUP applies from the moment you first access or use the Services and continues to apply for so long as you continue to use the Services. Sections 7 (Reporting Violations) and 8 (Enforcement) survive any termination of your account.
